The Wheels

After installing the 6" Skyjacker lift and the new drivetrain, I was ready to install my new Dana 60F front axle. Unfortunatly, my little 15x10 white spoke wheels wouldn't fit with the disc brakes on the Dana 60F axle. Solution: New 16" or 16.5" wheels and matching tires.

I don't like 16.5" wheels because they have no safety bead, if the air pressure drops low at all, they quickly dismount from the wheel. So that meant I needed 16" wheels. The selection gets pretty thin in the 16" sizes, I selected the 16x10" Ultra type 50 polished aluminum wheels for their good looks and size. I also wanted a more agressive tire than the 33" BFG AT's I was running, I also now had room to clear 35" tires. I picked the 35x12.50x16 Super Swamper SSR's.

One word of warning, the 35" Super Swampers are REALLY 35" tall unlike other so-caller 35" tires. The Super Sampers also have very larger side lugs. Using "normal" 35x12.50 tires, a 6 inch lift is plenty! However, with the 35" SSR's I get fender contact, extended bumpstops or trimmed fenders will be required.
